P U R P O S E

Photo taken from http://agsfororphans.org

Dear Friends, Family, and anyone who is willing to partake in and/or just stumbling upon:

Later this year (July 16-20, 2014), Natalie ("The Child Whisperer"), Shelbe ("The Biology Major"), and I, Nicollette ("The Artist"), have the distinct opportunity to participate in an International Orphan Care Trip to Haiti with an organization called Ags for Orphans (https://agsfororphans.org). Although Shelbe is the only one of us who attends A&M, the organization has graciously allowed Natalie and I to accompany them on this amazing experience. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, and home to more than 400,000 orphans. During this time, we'll be spending a week with some of the most amazing children on the planet; playing games, doing small construction projects, and finding joy in serving others. We're excited, humbled and even a bit anxious about the trip, but we all feel that this is something we should do, for we have all grown up very fortunate. Not only will we benefit from this emotionally, but we will also get to use our specialized knowledge and put it towards a good cause, with Shelbe working towards her BS in Biology, Natalie having a BS in Child Development/Minor in Psychology from TCU, and myself with a BFA in Photography from the Art Institute of Dallas.

In developing countries, orphans are often caught in a cycle of poverty, HIV/AIDS, trafficking, prostitution and slavery. Domestically, children spend years in unstable or questionable situations; creating trust and love issues, often damaging their potential for future success. Ags for Orphans, alongside Coreluv International, is committed to helping change the future for these kids by partnering with organizations and families and works with several orphanages in Haiti;  financially supporting over 200 children to provide 6 basic needs: clean water, food, basic healthcare, education, job skills training and a loving home. Through these international trips and strategic partnerships, the group is able to provide something money can't–quality time. This is important and necessary, just as much as these 6 basic needs listed above.

As you can imagine, there is a cost associated with a trip like this. $1500 (which is more than reasonable for a week-long international mission trip) covers all expenses–from flights to lodging/food and even security and translators. So, the question is this:

Will you help us get to these children by providing funds to help offset the cost?

Perhaps it's ten dollars, or maybe more; whatever seems like an appropriate amount, your gift is a catalyst for bringing hope and love to orphaned children through our involvement with Ags for Orphans.

How can we give back and show our appreciation for your donation?
As briefly mentioned before, the three of us want to take what we've learned and put it towards this good cause by documenting everything we encounter–but from our specialized point of view. Nicollette Mollet (BFA in Photography from The Art Institute of Dallas) will be photographing and filming our journey, making sure to document the emotionally fulfilling experiences. Natalie (BS in Child Development/Minor in Pscyhology; TCU) and Shelbe (Studying Biology at A&M) will be recording their experiences with the children as well, pertaining to their knowledge of expertise, on this blog website. This is all for you, the reader and/or donator, to experience this mission of a lifetime as if you were with us on the trip the whole time.

However, those who choose to donate (in previous entries of this blog) $50-$100 will receive exclusive, never before seen professional prints after the trip to see exactly where your donation went, and those who donate over $100 will receive their own exclusive, never before seen full length DVD copy of our documentary along with the prints (photographed/filmed/edited by Nicollette, "The Artist" www.nicollettemollet.com). Furthermore, we really want to stress that any donation at all is greatly appreciated.
